Read Romeo’s soliloquy from Act II, scene ii of Romeo and Juliet.

But, soft! what light through yonder window breaks?
It is the east, and Juliet is the sun!
Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon,
Who is already sick and pale with grief,
That thou her maid art far more fair than she:
Be not her maid, since she is envious;
Her vestal livery is but sick and green,
And none but fools do wear it; cast it off.

The purpose of this soliloquy is to help the audience understand Romeo’s

Answer:

A. feelings for Juliet.

Step-by-step explanation:

Supposedly in love with Rosaline from the start of the play, Romeo writes a sonnet in the Poetic style to her. But once he meets Juliet, he forgets everything about Rosaline and even starts talking differently.
