The general form is nthroot{a} in index form looks like this: a^(1/n).

Let's rationalize the denominator first.

Doing so, we get (1/2)sqrt{2}.

In index form, the sqrt{2} = 2^(1/2).

We now have (1/2)[2^(1/2)].

Is this clear?
