Two figures can only be similar if their corresponding lengths are proportional to each other, that is the ratio of their corresponding sides are equal.

AB corresponds to HI.

AB = 2 units, HI = 1 units.

AB : HI = 2/1 = 2

The ratio of all the sides of ABCDEFG are equal to the corresponding sides of HIJKLMN, which is 2, EXCEPT for side FG which corresponds to MN.

FG = 1 units

MN = 1 units.

FG : MN = 1/1 = 1

This ratio is different from what we have for the ratio of the other corresponding sides of both figures.

Therefore, the figures are not similar.
