y = 3

Explanation:

Given that,

TW = VW = 23,

TU = y + 24,

UV = 9y

∆TWU and ∆VWU are congruent by SAS Congruence Theorem.

Therefore:

TU = UV

y + 24 = 9y (substitution)

Subtract y from each side

24 = 9y - y

24 = 8y

Divide both sides by 8

24/8 = 8y/8

3 = y

y = 3
