What would happen if a electron was removed from a atom

It could have more than hundred answers. The atom will fall short of electrons and will become cation (positively charged ion). The size of an atom will also decrease as now nucleus have to pull less atoms so its ionization energy will increase. The atom becomes incomplete and there for the atom gets a plus one charge. Which therefore you will have a positive ion.
