Imagine that you are an abolitionist, such as Frederick Douglass, who has fought a life-long battle to end the practice of slavery. You learn about the details of Lincoln's proposed Emancipation Proclamation. What is your reaction? Are there parts you agree with or parts you disagree with? Are you opposed to it or do you support it?

if i were Fredrick Douglas I would be surprised that a white man had decided to end slavery. He would be proud that all his hard work payed off.
