using similar figures,
15/20 = (x+2)/(2x-4)

cross multiply,
15(2x-4) = 20(x+2)
30x-60 = 20x+40
10x = 100
x = 10

explanation : since the two triangles are similar figures, the ratio of the lengths of the base side will be equal to the ratio of the lengths of the slant side. to find the lengths on the larger triangle we simply add both values together.
