Screen sizes for televisions are measured by the diagonal length from one corner to the opposite corner on the other side. After much research, you've determined that in order to experience the best tv viewing experience, the screen of the TV should have a length:width ratio of 3 space colon space square root of 3. If you build a TV with a width of 6 ft, how long should the TV be in simplified radical form?

Answer:

18/√3ft

Explanation:

This is a ratio problem

Step one:

Given the ratio of length:width is "3 space colon space square root of 3"

mathematically it is expressed as

length:width 3:√3 or 3/√3

Step two:

3:√3 or 3/√3

if the built TV has a width of 6ft let the length be x

3/√3=x/6

cross multiply we have

x√3=3*6

x√3=18

x=18/√3ft

therefore the length will be 18/√3ft
