Henry is deserving of being called courageous because he went out to fight in the war. He should not forgive himself for initially fleeing the battle and abandoning the tattered soldier because the tattered soldier was undeserving of being abandoned. Henry's bravery at the end does in part make up for his mistakes because he is brave enough to do what is right, so that does make up for some of the mistakes that he has made.
