Why is a thesis statement important when writing a film review

Because it conveys the main idea on which the review is based. Though i respect the other persons answer but, the other answer to this question is incorrect because an "alternative point of view" isn't what a thesis is for. That's called perspective. A thesis shows what the main idea is based on.
