x + 21 = 5

x = 5 - 21

\color{hotpink}x = ( - 16)

Let us check whether or not we have found out the correct value of x , by placing -16 in the place of x :-

- 16 + 21 = 5

5=5

\color{hotpink}LHS = RHS

As the left hand side of the equation is equivalent to the right hand side of the equation, we can conclude that we have found out the correct value of x .

Therefore , the value of :-

\color{hotpink}x \color{olive}=\color{hotpink} ( - 16)
