What events caused the Peloponnesian War to happen?

The Athenian empire power and influence was growing too rapidly, Sparta saw them as a threat and wanted to get rid of them, causing the build up of how badly Sparta wanted to go to war, and the immediate trigger for that was when the Athenian empire tried to take control of The Delian League which would create a powerful naval alliance.
