Answer:

the defense alleged that Fuhrman is racist and planted the glove at Simpson's home in an attempt to frame him for the murders. If a jury could believe that Fuhrman planted the glove, it discredited that glove as a piece of evidence. The importance of the gloves didn't end with Fuhrman.
