Victor liked a girl from class, Teresa, and wanted to get close to her: Teresa is going to be my girl this year, he promised himself.

Since he knew that she would be taking French, he decided to take it too. At the beginning of the first lesson, the teacher, Mr. Bueller, asked if anyone knew French, and Victor, despite knowing almost nothing, raised his hand because he wanted to impress Teresa. When Mr. Beuller started speaking to him in French, he started making up words:

“La me vave me con le grandma,” he said uncertainly.

Mr. Beuller didn't want to embarrass him, so he said nothing, which Victor was very thankful for. Teresa fell for it, though, and asked him if he would help her study French. He said yes, and after class ran to the library where he got some French textbooks.
