What made the Black Plague terrifying?

Answer:

the amount of deaths and how long it lasted. after 5 years, there were between 25-50 million deaths. for a long time people didn't know what was spreading it and how it was caused. for a longtime people thought it was from the rats but it has since been proven that it was the fleas on the rats.

Answer: Carried by fleas from rodents to humans, bubonic plague cannot pass from human to human. A doctor swathed in protective gear checks a patient in Manchuria during the 1910-11 outbreak of pneumatic plague, the last before the discovery of sulpha drugs in 1933. Human lungs are the most terrifying tools of the plague.
