Answer:

60
ft^(2)

Explanation:

To find the surface area, you need to find the area of all the shapes that make up the pyramid and add them all together.

The area of the square is simply 36
ft^(2), as it is the length times itself (6x6)

To find the area of a triangle, it is bh/2, where b = base, and h = height. The height is 4 ft, and the base is 6 ft as the length of the square is the same as the base of the triangle. (4x6)/2 = 12.

The area of one of the triangles is 12, and they are all identical and there is 4 of them, so 12 x 4 = 48.

Add that to the area of the square:

48 + 12 = 60

The surface area is area of all faces. Now that we know that let’s make this simpler.
4 triangle faces
1 square
Area of square = length x length in this case 6 x 6 which is 36.
Triangle area = 1/2Bh in this case 1/2 x 6 (4) which is equal to 12.
Now since we have four triangle faces let’s multiply 12 by 4 —> 48.
Add the square to the triangle faces —> 48+36= 84ft^2.
