okay... the first thing you have to do is convert 1/2 into fourths. that'll make it way easier to solve..... like way easier.....

then rewrite the expression to get 3/4 + (-2 2/4)

now we know that + - = -

basically you subtract since adding a negative makes you subtract...

3/4 - 2 2/4 gives you - 1 3/4

all you have to do is plot that on the number line and you should be good to go
