The Oldowans are the Australopithecus Garhi or the early humans which were predominantly from East Africa over two and half million years ago.

Percussion Flaking is the act or art of creating a tool of a stone by hammering away chippings from it using another stone, bone or other hard object.

Percussion Flaking was very essential to the Oldowans in that, they needed the tools for hunting and cutting up of animals into manageable pieces.
