Why were the suit with special coating a better option for racecar drivers?

Answer: We have to have a special suit that is SFI rated in order to keep us protected in case of a fire and to also keep us protected from chemicals if a wreck was to occur. Even when stitching or embroidering our suits, we have to use a special thread that is fire resistent! Our suits can be single layer, 2 layer, or 3 layers, depending on how much protection you need
