Multiplication

Division

Addition

Isolate the variable, x. Subtract x and 2 from both sides:

-2x (-x) + 2 (-2) = x (-x) - 13 (-2)

-2x - x = -13 - 2

Simplify. Combine like terms:

-2x - x = -13 - 2

-3x = -15

Divide -3 from both sides:

(-3x)/-3 = (-15)/-3

x = -15/-3

x = 5

x = 5 is your answer.
