What does this statement mean: “Everyone, no matter who, no matter how rich or poor, has lived in the Tijuana garbage dump. One’s type of suffering does not rate, in my book, above or below anyone else’s”

Answer:

This dump is very close to where all the rich and affluent live. This dump holds their thrown out items/trash. It is a collective of all of the goods of the people, poor or rich.

Step-by-step explanation:

The playing field is leveled at the dump. To each his own, and get what you can while you can.....It's almost like saying that due to the amount of "rich" stuff you can find, it is like the rich people are there too....
