DNA transcription creates mRNA. Transcription is when information in a strand of DNA is replicated or copied into a new strand of mRNA. The DNA sequence serves as a template for mRNA to be synthesized in the nucleus. mRNA is catalyzed by the enzyme RNA polymerase and requires nucleotide triphosphates as substrates in order to initiate and sustain DNA synthesis.
