A fish population grew according to the following quadratic model, the number of fish a day is given by

P(t)=800t-t^2

What is the average growth rate between t=400 and t=600

Answer: -200

Explanation:

P(t) = 800t - t²

P(600) = 800(600) - (600)²

= 480,000 - 360,000

= 120,000

P(400) = 800(400) - (400)²

= 320,000 - 160,000

= 160,000

\text{rate of change}=(P(600)-P(400))/(600-400)=(120,000-160,000)/(200)=(-40,000)/(200)=-200
