The National Road was built between 1811 and 1837. It is a 620 mile road which connected Potomac and the Ohio Rivers. It was improved in the 1830's and became the second U.S. road surfaced with the macadam process pioneered by Scotsman John Loudon McAdam.

So therefore, it took 26 years to build
