Help please!!! At a baseball game, a vender sold a combined total of 236 sodas and hot dogs. The number of sodas sold was three times the number of hot dogs sold. Find the number of sodas and the number of hot dogs sold.

Explanation:

# of sodas sold = s

# of hotdogs sold = h

224 sodas and hotdogs = s + h

3h = s

224 = h + s

Plug in one equation into the other one, like 3h = s into h + s

h + s = 224 and s = 3h so...

h + (3h) = 224

4h = 224

h = 224/4 = 56

56 hotdogs were sold

And since s = 3h...

The number of sodas sold is 3 times 56 = 168 sodas.

56 hotdogs, 168 sodas.
