The somatic and sex chromosomes mainly differ in their Ploidy.

  • Somatic Chromosomes are Diploid (2n)

  • Sex Chromosomes are Haploid (n)

Haploidity of sex chromosomes enables the formation of a diploid zygote after fertilization

Somatic Chromosomes are homologous in nature while the Sex Chromosomes can be Analogous as in the case of Spermatozoa which bears XY genes
