They only showed loyalty to the rulers and elected government when they were paid for their services. When the Roman Empire become cash-strapped and could not pay the military, the soldiers turned against their government and leaders.Aug 7, 2019

The reason that there is a large millitary problem for the Roman Empire is because most straightforward theory for the Western Rome's collapse pins the fall on a string of military losses sustained against outside forces.
