Answer: 42 ÷ 6 = 7

7 is the quotient.

Explanation:

In division equations, the number being divided is the dividend. the number used to divide is the divisor. The result is the quotient. That is the 'size' of the share each of the divisors gets. Quota comes from the latin word for "part" or "how many".

When converting a a fraction to division or vice versa, the numerator is the dividend. The denominator is the divisor.
