What did emotion have to do with Vincent Van Gogh's art?

Answer: Van Gogh relayed his emotions through art. He was mentally ill and found it helpful to create art, in order to feel better about his life, and to physically put his thoughts down without directly writing them in words. Hope this helps :)

Emotions where an important part of Van Gogh’s art. He used impulsive, gestural application of paint and symbolic colors to express subjective emotions.
