Is it easy to miss a blank as the light from the sun is only blocked for a short time

Sun's disc is only partly blocked, with a bit. Moon misses the umbra completely, only passes through the penumbral shadow. a total lunar eclipse, these eclipses can be seen from the entire night-time hemisphere.
