I believe the American expansion westward was inevitable due to conception of manifest destiny. With the presence of manifest Destiny Americans now had a justification for the actions they would have to take to acquire western territory. Therefore since the concept of manifest destiny now provided Americans with a justification to acquire territory In west, this made western expansion inevitable .

Answer:

I think that according to the concept of Manifest Destiny that westward expansion was not inevitable. I think that under this concept, all Americans needed to do to stop it was take a step back and have some introspection to see that how they were treating native Americans in their expansion was grossly abusive and inhumane. If this had happened, I think that the entire concept of Manifest Destiny would have been thrown out as barbaric imperialistic garbage.
