Answer: villi

Step-by-step explanation:

In a human digestive system, small intestine is responsible for fat digestion. small intestine consist of small finger like projections called villi which functions the fat digestion by increasing the surface area for nutrient absortion.

The surface mucous-membranous layer protects the heart of a villus. This is composed mainly of two types of cells including columnar cells which absorb the substances passed into the blood and lymphatic vessels; and goblet cells, rounded at the end, which secrete mucus into the intestinal cavity.

Hence, villi increases the surfcae area for nutrient absorption in the small intestine.
