Given:

Area of rectangular paper = 24 square feet

Solution:

Part A:

Possible dimensions of area 24 square feet:

1 × 24 = 24, 2 × 12 = 24, 3 × 8 = 24, 4 × 6 = 24

These are the possible dimensions of rectangles.

Part B:

Perimeter of rectangle with dimension 1 × 24

= 2(1 + 24)

= 50 feet

Perimeter of rectangle with dimension 2 × 12:

= 2(2 + 12)

= 28 feet

Perimeter of rectangle with dimension 3 × 8

= 2(3 + 8)

= 22 feet

Perimeter of rectangle with dimension 4 × 6:

= 2(4 + 6)

= 20 feet

From these perimeters, dimension 1 × 24 has the greatest perimeter.

Part C:

Because from above part B, 50 feet is the greater perimeter but the area is same as the another rectangles. Therefore it is not true.

No, it is not necessary that if a rectangle has a greater perimeter than another rectangle then, it also have a greater area.
