1. Compare/contrast the descriptions of alienation between immigrant parents and their children offered in

the poems “Elena” by Pat Mora and "Tattoo" by Gregg Shapiro. Don't just describe what each poem is

Step-by-step explanation:

Both parents (the Mexican mother from ‘Elena’ and the holocaust father from ‘Tattoo’) find it difficult to connect with their children, as they lived in a different world. In the first case the mother doesn´t know how to speak English and feels left out from her daughter life; in the second case is the son that feels left out from his father life because he didn’t go through the Holocaust. The contrast is that in the first poem, the mother sees her struggle. The second one is the son that sees the father struggle.
