First work out the slant height using Pythagoras:

l^2 = (2√3)^2 + 2^2

l^2 = 12 + 4 = 16

l = 4 cm.

Area of the base = πr^2 = π 2^2

Total surface area = π* 2* 4 + π(2)^2

= 8 π + 4 π

= 12π cm^2.
