Area of a rectangle is b•h so leaving off the two triangles, 4•3=12
Now area of a triangle is b•h/2 so (2•3)/2=3 then double that because there are two triangles, now 6, and add it to the area of the rectangle. 12+6=18

Find the area of the figure.
