The angles are congruent exterior angles, so 97=11x+9

Solving it we get:
11x=88

x=8.

I hope this helps!

Answer:

Explanation:

97 degrees and (11x+ 9) degrees lie outside the parallel lines and they alternate the sides of the transversal. This means that they are alternate exterior angles. Since alternate exterior angles are equal, it means that

11x + 9 = 97

Subtracting 9 from the left hand side and the right hand side of the equation, it becomes

11x + 9 - 9 = 97 - 9

11x = 88

Dividing the left hand side and the right hand side of the equation by 11, it becomes

11x/11 = 88/11

x = 8
