A amendment is the processing of amending a law and amending means to alter. Amendment is a "law that needs to be amended or followed." A good example of a amendment is the first amendment which is has a few aspects to it but mainly about the freedom of speech which allows a person to say how he or she feels about a certain situation or practice a certain religion without it being against the law and everyone has to respect and follow that amendment.

Hope this helps.
