A flagpole, 12 m high, is supported by three wires attached from the top of the pole to the ground. Each wire is pegged into the ground 5 m from the pole. How much wires needed to supported the pole?

Answer: 3 wires of 13 m =39m

Base side = 5m

Vertical side = 12m

Hypotenuse = length of one wire.

5^2 + 12^2 = Hypotenuse^2

Hypotenuse = 13m

3 wires of 13m length = 39m

Explanation:

base=5m

height=12

Pythagoras formula A2+b²=c2

so 12²+5²

144+25=169

so

√169=13m
