If the linear function y=-2x+10 has a domain given by [1,4] then which of the followig is its range

[2,8]

Explanation:

Well since it's a linear function it's ends will be the extrema, so plugging the domain restrictions that you are given:

y=-2(1)+10

y=-2+10

y=8

and

y=-2(4)+10

y=-8+10

y=2

so since 2 is lower than 8, its the lower range bound, and since both the 1 and the 4 are included in the domain it will be a closed interval:

[2,8]
