f(g(x)) = 2x + 10 and g(f(x)) = 2x + 1

Explanation:

Given,

f(x) = 2x - 8 and g(x) = x + 9

To find, the values of f(g(x)) and g(f(x)) = ?

f(x) = 2x - 8

∴ f(g(x)) = 2(g(x)) - 8

= 2(x + 9) - 8

= 2x + 18 - 8

= 2x + 10

Also,

g(x) = x + 9

g(f(x)) = f(x) + 9

= 2x - 8 + 9

= 2x + 1

∴ f(g(x)) = 2x + 10 and g(f(x)) = 2x + 1
