It has two parts namely, the anterior and posterior pituitary.

The anterior pituitary produces several hormones which includes Adrenocorticotrophic hormone (ACTH), Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), Luteinising hormone (LH), Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), Prolactin (PRL), Growth hormone (GH), Melanocyte-stimulating hormone (MSH) etc.

The posterior pituitary secretes two (2) hormones including oxytocin and antidiuretic hormone.
