This is done by the organisms so in order to avoid competition. Resource partitioning is a method that organisms use for survival by dividing their resources so that there is lesser competition.

The wildebeest and the red-billed quelea are also using this phenomenon in order to survive. They have divided their part of the grass so that there is lesser competition and both of the species are able to coexist.
