The author's purpose is to entertain his readers.

Answer: Option C

Step-by-step explanation:

‘How Mighty Kate Stopped the Train’ is a short story for children which is about a girl ‘Kate.’ Throughout the story the author have made use of many descriptive languages mostly to entertain the readers.

For example : Since Kate was above the normal weight when she was born, she was called as ‘Mighty Kate.’ The author further states that the engineer stopped the train because he heard Kate’s loud whistle.

In between he puts forward many other such instances where just from Kate’s one hand she pulls away the trees and trains, thus giving rise to entertainment.
