How did the Civil War provide the economic foundation for the United States to become an industrial giant?

Answer:

Because at the time of the war the Northern side was prosperous, and they took the factories and made them even bigger when they conquered.

Even though they were still pretty much agricultural, the South had more factories and so on than before the war.
