Answer: (1,-5)

In other words, x = 1 and y = -5

=====================================================

Work Shown:

6x + y = 1

6(1) + y = 1

6 + y = 1

y = 1-6

y = -5

The solution as an ordered pair is (1,-5)

Notice I started with the second equation and substituted in the first equation. The idea is to somehow reduce the two variables into one variable, so you can solve for that remaining variable.
