Question

I'm writing a story about an immortal person who regrets the fact that they became immortal. I'm trying to think of a couple things:

1 - Why are the immortal? What happened to make them immortal?
2. What is the inciting incident? If they have been immortal for a while, what specific thing happened to make them regret their choice to be immortal?

in my opinion they can be immortal maybe because they're celestials being or some man with superpowers called Gawd gave em a chance to become one coz of their good dids in the past

They can't forget the dead of their loved ones they see their love ones die one by one that's what made them regret being immortal
