Why was trade so important to Europeans during 'THE AGE IF EXPLORATION'? ​

During the age of exploration Europeans were looking for a trade route to India Spain and Castile (Spain) got a head start on this, eventually they reach India and they get their spices which makes them very rich but they also establish trading ports in Africa and find America getting even more money of trade and blocking trade from the ottomans (the ottomans were Muslim so people at the time didn’t like trading with them) A good video to watch would be on History Matters channel
