Answer:

The current will remain unchanged:

If the switches are open then 18 Ω is in parallel with 18 Ω

This gives an equivalent resistance of 9 Ω for the circuit

R = R1 R2 / (R1 + R2) = (18 * 18)/ 36 = 9 Ω

Now suppose that switches are closed, then

each parallel combination of 6 Ω is in series with the other two

One combination = (6 * 6) / (6 + 6) = 3 Ω

There will be 3 of these parallel combinations in series providing a total resistance of 9 Ω which is the same as before so i is unchanged
