6(x + 8) = 8x + 36

• open the bracket by applying distributive property.


6x + 48 = 8x + 36

• collect all x terms on left hand side, and constants on the right hand side:


6x - 8x = 36 - 48 \\ - 2x = - 12

• divide either sides by -2 :


( - 2x)/( - 2) = ( - 12)/( - 2) \\ \\ { \underline{ \underline{ \: \:B): x = 6 \: \: }}}
